Giving Tuesday Year-end campaign

When Jared was three years old, he had his first individualized education program (IEP) review of existing education data (REED) meeting to help identify his unique needs. After a full initial evaluation of all areas of suspected disability, Jared was found eligible under the cognitive impaired category. His mother, Diane, remembers being totally overwhelmed and emotionally drained.
A few months in, Debbie, an Advocate at The Arc Kent County, helped Jared’s teachers come together to best support him when he began to struggle. Diane says, “I can honestly say that the last few months of school have been the best of Jared’s school career. He is more independent…he’s making new friends. He is more confident, happier, and more successful at school than ever before.”
